What good is my Christianity if I can’t use my Spirituality to change my day to day Reality?

This is a season when we all need to stretch farther to fulfill the great commission and mandate that God has on our lives. But in order to press a little farther, there are some things that we must get past.

First, we must get past people, the opinions of people and the actions of people. In Matthew 26:36, Jesus left the disciples and went by himself to a place to pray. We must learn how to separate ourselves from people, get in the presence of the Lord and obey what He says.

Secondly, we must get past our emotions. Even though in Matthew 26:38 Jesus says that He was exceeding sorrowful, he still went a little farther. We must learn how to push so that we don’t end up staying in a place of sorrow. We must learn how to push our way out of our pity parties, out of our drama, out of our issues. When we do not get past our emotions, we will never enter into a place of victory.

Thirdly, we must get past our comfort zone. In order to be pleasing to God, the Word of God says that we must operate in faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. When we’re in our comfort zone, we can see things and we know what we expect; therefore, it is not in faith, it is in what we know. In order to operate in victory through Jesus Christ, we must go a little farther to get past our comfort zone.

Fourthly, we must get past our desires if they do not line up with the plan and Will of God for our lives. Jesus did not want to be separated from His Father but He endured the suffering and separation because in order for Him to save the world, He had to take on sin and not His Will be done but the Will of the Father. He got past his desires and operated in the plan and purpose of God. Our desires must be those of the Father.

Lastly, we must get past our past. We cannot allow our past to determine our future. Our past has absolutely nothing to do with our future. Our future is determined by the Lord. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." When we are able to go a little farther, we walk into our destiny, our purpose and break free from our past. Be determined to walk in God’s Best in every area of your life, regardless of role you may be fulfilling. Make a decision that each day you will move higher in the things of God and go from faith to faith.
