NOT THE GLITTER  -  BUT THE JEWEL

What Is A Christian Wife?

She is one who loves God and realizes her purpose.  Daily she is developing her knowledge of God and His righteousness, by studying the Word that is TRUTH.  This knowledge convinces her heart and soul of the presence and omniscience of God. It is exemplified through her actions toward God, her husband, and her fellow man.

Her mind is focused on that which is true - the truthfulness of God's word and the faithfulness of His promises.  John 17: 17 says, "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."  Hebrews 10:23 says, "Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering: (for He is faithful that promised)."

She thinks on things that are honest.  She is truthful with herself, with God, and with others.

She thinks on things that are just.  She is fair to others regardless of her own personal feelings.

She thinks on things that are pure.  She makes every effort to keep her thoughts free from corruption.  She realizes that we will be judged by our own words.  The words spoken are a direct reflection of the inner thoughts.

She thinks on things that are lovely.  She is constantly allowing God to transform her into a lovely person.  Her inner beauty radiates in a way that the world can see that God lives within her heart and soul.

She thinks on the things that are of good report.  She lives a life that is of service to others, of service to the Church, and a life of humble obedience to the will of God.  A life that is well spoken of.

In Philippians 4:8, the TRUTH says, "if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

The Christian Wife wears a garment that consists of:  the girdle of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, and the helmet of salvation.  Her feet are shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, and in her hand she carries the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

As she loves God and his righteousness, she also loves her husband.

She is patient and kind.  She does not envy, boast, and is not rude.  She is not self-seeking or easily angered.  She does not keep any record of wrongs or delight in evil.  She rejoices with the truth while protecting, trusting, and hoping.

She respects her husband's headship because this is the will of God.

She does him good and not evil all the days of her life.
